ASP-AM 4: Research Protections

 

A program that participates in or permits research involving children and youth or their families:

  1. ensures that all research is conducted in accordance with applicable legal requirements;
  2. has a mechanism to review and approve or deny research proposals;
  3. establishes that children and youth and their parents or legal guardians have the right to refuse to participate without penalty;
  4. informs children and youth and their parents or legal guardians about the nature and purpose of the research, and any possible risks or discomfort;
  5. obtains consent forms signed by research participants and their parents or legal guardians; and
  6. guarantees protection of research participants’ identity and confidentiality.
NA The program does not participate in or permit research involving children and youth or their families.
