HOW DO WE SUSTAIN CERTIFICATION?

The Certification recognition is valid for three (3) years. A Program may re-apply every three (3) years. The re-application process includes the submission of a revised/updated self-study and fees. We encourage programs to work toward accreditation and complete full implementation of COA's after school standards.

Certification is key to sustaining a culture of quality within a program. COA's Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process enhances the value of recognition in the post-certification years by promoting continuous implementation of/performance with COA's standards throughout a programs recognition cycle. These mechanisms ultimately increase the value of COA recognition to the program's internal and external stakeholders.

COA's Maintenance of Certification process is composed of three components:

  • Self-reporting of critical incidents and significant occurrences
  • Participation in the review of parental complaints, or accidents involving injury to children for the period since the last submission.
  • Completion of an Annual Maintenance of Certification Report (MOC)
The MOC Report:
  • Demonstrates your program's commitment to the pursuit of program of excellence and quality service delivery for persons served.
  • Affirms your program's ongoing implementation of/performance with COA's after school standards.

During the time a program is not pursuing COA recognition, it is welcome to contact COA's Client Relations Department regarding all recognition-related questions. Additionally, it can access standards updates by visiting the Updates page.
