WHERE DO WE BEGIN?

In beginning the After School Registration process with COA, the decision to seek recognition should be made with the knowledge that a commitment of resources — financial and personnel — will be necessary, as well as a willingness to review, modify and/or develop and implement systems and policies within your program in areas such as Program Administration, and Human Resources.

After School Registration was developed for after school programs that would like to reflect their commitment to promoting COA's After School Quality Standards.

Since you've already made the decision to seek COA After School Registration, here are a few recommended steps:

• Visit COA's website www.coanet.org to gain information and an understanding of the Council on Accreditation.
• Educate your staff about the benefits COA After School Registration offers that will support their commitment to quality practice and the program's dedication to excellence.
• Discuss the process, the standards, and the commitment that is required to achieve COA After School Registration with your stakeholders.
• Submit a copy of the After School Registration application with the appropriate information and application fee (see the Related Files for a copy of the application).
• Let your children, youth and families know that COA After School Accreditation affirms your commitment to providing them with the very best services. Tell them that when it comes to their needs, Good enough is not good enough!
